Unopposed Incumbents Re-Elected Across the South Shore
November 5 - Polls have closed in Massachusetts and South Shore News is ready to call several races across the South Shore.
In the state Senate races, three incumbents are set to keep their seats without any challengers. This includes Republican Pat O'Connor from the 1st Plymouth and Norfolk district, Democrat Mike Brady from the 2nd Plymouth and Norfolk district, and Democrat John Keenan from the Norfolk and Plymouth district. None faced challenges in either the primary or general election.
The story's the same in the state House of Representatives, where four incumbents face no competition. Democratic Representatives Joan Meschino from the 3rd Plymouth district and Patrick Kearney from the 4th Plymouth district will return to office without a fight.
Republican Representatives David DeCoste from the 5th Plymouth district and Alyson Sullivan-Almeida from the 7th Plymouth district are also keeping their positions unchallenged.
There are a number of competitive races in the region, however it is indicative of the Ballotpedia report that Massachusetts has had the least competitive State Legislative elections for each of the past 5 election cycles. Our region is probably the most competitive in the state this evening, entirely driven by incumbents not seeking re-election to their current seats.
The only incumbent South Shore legislator facing a challenge tonight is Democratic Representative Kathy LaNatra in the 12th Plymouth district, where she faces a rematch of her 2022 race with Republican Eric Meschino.
