Longtime Marshfield Town Administrator Michael Maresco departs; East Bridgewater Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Legault resigns after 9.5 years
April 9 - Leadership changes are shaking up two South Shore communities as top officials in Marshfield and East Bridgewater step down.
Marshfield's Town Administrator Michael Maresco is leaving his position after reaching a mutual agreement with the town. The Select Board thanked Maresco for his years of service, not only as Town Administrator but also for his previous roles as a Selectman and Assessor. They highlighted his contributions to improving town resources and facilities, including the Council on Aging, Police Station, Town Hall, and Department of Public Works.
Meanwhile, in East Bridgewater, Superintendent Elizabeth Legault has announced her resignation from the public school system, effective April 1, 2025. Legault, who has been in the role for nine and a half years, explained in her resignation letter that after discussions with the School Committee, they agreed it was time for new leadership to take the reins.
The East Bridgewater School Committee, led by Chair Gordon McKinnon, acknowledged Legault's service and wished her well in her future endeavors. Legault expressed pride in the district's achievements during her tenure, particularly the strong partnerships between schools and families.
The School Committee has promised to keep the community updated about plans for new leadership, emphasizing that their main focus remains the best interests of students and faculty.
