Halifax Selectmen Emphasize Experience in Leadership Reorganization
Chair Bruno and vice-chair Selig re-elected; newcomer Pratt appointed as clerk to "learn from the bottom up"
HALIFAX, MA - June 4 - The Halifax Board of Selectmen has reorganized its leadership for the coming year.
During a special meeting on Jun. 4, 2024, the board unanimously re-elected its current chair, John Bruno.
"I'd like to nominate you to be chair again here of our Board of Selectmen," said one board member. "I think your knowledge is unmatched on the board. I think your experience is unmatched. Man of character, great judgment."
The board also voted to keep Jonathan Selig as vice chairman. The chair praised Selig's "background and integrity" as qualities that make him well-suited for the role.
The board appointed Tom Pratt as clerk. "Typical rookie position as clerk anyway. So you get to see all of the mundane stuff and learn from the bottom up," the chair explained.
Following the leadership appointments, the board approved a live entertainment permit for a local Stop & Shop.
The meeting, conducted via Zoom, lasted less than 10 minutes.
